Biography

Kristen Wendell is Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Education at Tufts University, where she is also a Fellow at the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach. A recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER award for early career faculty, her research focuses on integrating engineering into the early school years and on supporting discourse and design practices during K-12 and college engineering learning experiences. Kristen received a Ph.D. in Science Education from Tufts, where she developed and studied an engineering-design-based science curriculum for elementary students, and an M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics (aerospace engineering) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she studied advanced spacesuit design at the Man-Vehicle Lab. Kristen earned a B.S.E. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University
